Mario Padovàn
" walking in Rome in company of Bernini, Michelangelo and Leonardo"
from 11 July until 10 September
Mario Padovan ‘s creativity springs from the spirit surrounding the Middle European culture. His personal experience in the United States in the 1950s and 1960s, years marked with collective ideals, which saw the birth of innovative experiments together with the leading artists of the Pop Art movement, has influenced his work with an extremely modern concept of visual representation, further consolidating the artistic tradition he had learnt in the Old Continent. Mario Padovan has always anticipated the expressive potential of art, by using forms and signs, which have later become famous worldwide.
The artist lives and works in Rome. He is a painter, sculptor, graphic artist and costume designer, the author of arts information columns in Roman dailies and periodicals, a member of AICA (Association International des Critiques d’Art). His “artistic career” received the support of the poet Umberto Saba, who realized his innovatory potential right from the start (1936-37).

Mario Padovan exhibited his works for the first time in 1959 (Salon de l’Art Libre at the Musé d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris). Since he had different phases and experiences, starting with figurative classic style with paintings inspired by the most significant movements of the 20st century, he evolved towards a very personal interpretation of geometric elements which became a specific identification sign in his works.
