With the launch of Gallery Orient 499, Aida Kawas and Frank Edouard Luca intend to turn people’s conceptions of Oriental arts and crafts on its head.
The vision, says Kawas, is to fuse the elegance of tradition with modernity, whether in textile design, ceramics, jewelry or glassware.
Frank Edouard Luca, a Belgian national, grew up in a family of antique dealers On leaving Belgium, Luca spent five years travelling the world, eventually stopping in Lebanon to open a publishing and advertising business in Beirut. Luca brings years of business acumen to Orient 499 and a profound interest in the region’s heritage and arts and crafts.
