GUY Olivier
from 16 November 2007 until 8 february 2008
'Guy Olivier: Spirit of the beautiful life', it says on his website. It is not a surprise that Paule Carré noticed him, loved his work and decided to have a complete exhibition of his paintings and works on paper for the opening of her gallery.

Guy Olivier shows us the world of how he notices it. Born and raised in Maastricht, he learned his way in the Burgundian lifestyle. This is what we find in his paintings; a celebration of the good life. Being human and an artist, Guy feels himself to be free and to paint human beings with all their bizarre and at the same time ordinary revelations; 'a bunch of lovely, crazy, weird but so familiar people,' as he explains himself. Guy Olivier’s paintings all burst with energy, which you can feel coming out of the painting, when looking at it. It is clear that life itself is all about emotion and commotion, about hilarious comedy and sometimes tragedy. By his paintings he shows the naked beauty of life and the world around us.

You can imagine yourself being in Paris, enjoying a night with beautiful women dancing, people laughing, in an ambiance where the spirit of the belle époque still lingers...
